L.J. Beckman - EANx Instructor
L.J. has been diving since April 07. L.J. took a class through Texas Tech to get his Open Water certification and immediately fell in love with diving and took his Advanced Open Water Course the following month. He did most of his diving in springs in and around Texas and New Mexico before moving to Andros, Bahamas in September 08 where he works as an intern for International Fields Studies (IFS).
There he earned his Rescue Diver certification and then Divemaster. L.J is intrigued by the beautiful reef (the Tongue of the Ocean) and the numerous Blue Holes and caves found in Andros. He is working toward his Cavern and Full Cave Certification and has begun the fundamentals of technical deep diving. He just recently completed his Assistant Instructor rating and has been working with Columbus SCUBA, Inc. (CSI) faculty toward becoming an International Association of Nitrox and Technical Diving EANx Instructor.
He hasn’t been able to narrow down his favorite piece of diving equipment but he favors his Cressi Archimedes 2 Gas computer and environmentally sealed Salvo regulator which both keep him feeling safe and simultaneously satisfies his gadget obsession. Although students dig his infamous “Blue Speedo and red Cousteau cap” L.J. continues to work with CSI as an Assistant Instructor exclusively on Andros and has logged numerous dives on the reef and blue holes. In the late 60’s, Jacque Cousteau dropped a camera in “Cousteau’s Blue Hole” near Stafford Creek in roughly 250 ft. of water. He is determined to recover it as very few divers have had the unique opportunity of diving that body of water. His ambition is to travel the world and visit the many international dive sites.
